Glow Up, Cut Loose

The Full Moon Glow Collage

Remember the warm summer nights and the glow of a full moon in the sky?

The breeze blowing in while your favorite song played softly on the radio?
Maybe it was Dancing in the Moonlight on the late-night “Love Songs” show, or a mixtape you wore out rewinding on your Walkman.

That feeling, the in-between, the electric, the alive, is what this month’s full moon is all about.

And it’s the inspiration behind this Art Journal project.

Make Your Full Moon Glow Collage

You don’t need fancy supplies, just a full moon vibe and a little bit of you.

Gather:

∙Scraps of foil, tissue paper, vellum, or any light-catching bits ∙Magazine clippings, old Polaroids, retro stickers ∙Lyrics from your favorite moon songs (hello, King Harvest!) ∙A blank page in your journal, or a piece of cardboard, if you’re feeling wild

Make it lunar:

Add circular shapes, moon phases, or silvery ink ∙Create a dreamy background with pastels, watercolor, or smudged pencil ∙Write affirmations or moon wishes beneath the collage like secret messages, layered love notes to your future self

Why It Matters

Collage is magic. It lets us reclaim pieces of ourselves and turn them into something whole.
Something radiant.
Something that reminds us: we’ve always been artists.
Even when life told us to grow up and “get serious.”

So go ahead!
Grab your glue stick.
Let the August moon see you shine.

And maybe, just maybe, put Dancing in the Moonlight on repeat while you do.
